The Building Research Capability in the Social Sciences network, Hui Rangahau Tahi, is a virtual research community.

BRCSS spans all universities and the Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit, a private sector research provider, who collaborate to build research capability in the social sciences sector through:

• Leveraging the Research Platform to foster innovative and new research
• Building capacity by contributing to the development of new and emerging researchers
• Encouraging networking via the Access Grid Nodes

• A report by Ruth McManus, Canterbury University and Cyril Schafer, Otago University with Elaine Donovan (Research Assistant, Canterbury University) entitled Final Arrangments: Attitudes to Funeral Costs in New Zealand   This research was funded by a BRCSS Research Grant.

• Final Report by Dr Teena Brown Pulu, a recipient of a BRCSS Postdoctoral Award in 2008, Transnational Tongans Talk About Their Lives
